come join us.Vast is looking for a Supervisor, Materials &
Processes, reporting to the Manager, Materials & Processes, to
support the development of the systems that will be required for
the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space
stations. This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our
Long Beach location.Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of materials testing technicians and
soft-goods fabrication technicians.
- Conduct daily team meetings to communicate goals and
expectations.
- Coordinate work schedules and assignments to optimize
productivity.
- Ensure aerospace industry quality standards are followed.
- Implement and oversee quality control measures.
- Continual optimization of materials testing and soft-goods
fabrication for efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and other departments for
process improvements.
- Coordinate repairs with the maintenance teams in a timely
manner.
- Enforce safety protocols in the materials test lab and during
soft-goods fabrication.
- Identify training needs for the team.
- Develop and foster strong relationships with upper
management.
- Ensure purchase orders are accurate with no cost overruns.
- Coordination to meet with the Vast end user and establish the
scope of work.Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 3+ years of experience working in a materials lab performing
materials testing.
- Knowledge of materials testing standards and fabrication
experience.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member, maintaining
composure, and working effectively in a high-pressure environment
with changing priorities.
- A good work ethic, attention to detail, and high level of
personal integrity.Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Proven leadership abilities with a track record of team
management.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role in a materials lab or
manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous
improvement methodologies.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and adherence to standards.
- Ability to analyze data and implement process
improvements.
- Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and drive
innovation within the organization.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make timely
decisions.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing
several projects at any given time, and the flexibility to adjust
for abrupt changes in strategic direction.Additional
Requirements:
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support
critical mission milestones.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted.Pay Range: Supervisor,
Materials & Processes, $82,000 - $130,000COMPENSATION AND
BENEFITSBase salary will vary depending on job-related knowledge,
education, skills, experience, business needs, and market demand.
